Now that you've considered the features of the GoPro cameras and if the price is worth the activities you will be using it for, it is time to figure out which edition you need. The White and Silvers come in only one, so you will have to purchase specific mounts/parts you will need separately (do the math, the Black Editions with the mounts you need & WiFi accessories are a financially smart to purchase instead of a cheaper cam and everything else separately if that's what you may be doing).
No, honestly though, who runs GoPro? It’s like some kind of pyramid scheme where they pretend to be a normal online business store, but secretly (or not so secretly) they are just out to swindle money from the people that actually enjoy using their products. Much like most of the people commenting, I’ve had an awful experience with the GoPro ‘support’ team, after being charged twice for an order, being blatantly lied to and misled, I find myself still waiting on my refund for the money they withdrew from my account after 6 weeks and over 15 interactions with the ‘support’ staff. “The refund was processed on the 28th of November, you should have received an email and the money should be in your account” oh ok, that’s funny, there seems to be no money or email and also no mention of this in the past 8-10 conversations I’ve had with the support team since November the 28th. So yeah, don’t ever use their online store for anything, the worst business I’ve ever dealt with by far, they take zero responsibility for any of their actions or inaction and their incompetence is on another level
We suppose it was easier for GoPro to simply remove options from the menus rather than recode the software to take away the menus entirely, but it does make the Hero’s interface feel a bit like a rush job. It’s also just confusing, and initially led us to believe there was something wrong with our review unit or that it needed a firmware update. Imagine being handed a menu at a restaurant with a single item on it, and then your waiter asking if you needed some time to make a decision.
You get many of the same shooting modes you'd find on a GoPro device, such as time-lapse photos and videos and slow motion footage at 1080p at 240 fps, and there's even a Drive mode so you can use it as a dash cam when plugged into your car, automatically turning on when you start your car and off when you stop it. It's not waterproof on its own, but a dive housing is included as well as several mounts, two batteries and a charger that simultaneously powers up both packs. It also has built-in Wi-Fi so you can connect to a smartphone and use an app to control the camera and transfer your shots for sharing.
14 days later I still hadn’t heard anything, still no money taken from my account and still no news on my camera. I contacted support again who said I should have contacted them BEFORE the 14 days were up so they could follow up on my order. I asked them to check their records as that is exactly what I did, on 6th December. For this mishap they shipped me a free handler (which by some miracle arrived 2 days later). Still no news on the camera but I was assured an escalation was placed on my case so I trusted the process.
I am so disappointed at GoPro, they have the worst customer care, with multiple frauds, including the 24hrs contact support for GoPro plus customers which is fake. Refund Frauds I experienced, they claim PayPal payment takes 30 days to refund, which PayPal has denied and said the refund should be instant. Inefficient administration costed me lots of time and money wasted on talking to them trying to resolve issues made by them. Delayed delivery. Untraceable order ID.
I'll never buy a gopro ever again. The worst company I have ever used. Ordered a gopro 3 months ago, still not delivered, told me they issued a refund on a date before I actually bought it (figure that one out) then remembered they didn't issue a refund, now refusing to refund my tax money (what the actual fk), won't give me my trade in camera back, won't honour my original order and will only give me a discount if I buy their most expensive camera?? Absolute con artists
I ordered a GoPro at the beginning of October with their trade in deal (send in your old camera and get 25% off go pro hero 7 silver). I sent my old camera off and a few days later got an email from GoPro saying the payment could not be processed so I called them up to sort it out and they told me my order had been cancelled. The next day, I ordered another GoPro hero 7 in silver with my student discount. The following week I check my bank account and they have taken out payments for 2 orders! I called them up and they said they could not do anything about it as both orders had been shipped, I would have to return one and get a refund with the 30 day money back guarentee. I did that and was told I would get my refund within 7-21 days... It's now been OVER A MONTH and I havn't got my refund.
The brand new Hero 4's are even more powerful, hence the hefty price of 5 bills with the HERO4 black. They come in either a Black or Silver Edition; however, there's also a new budget-friendly choice called the "HERO" which has some essential features to work with at around $130. I love the fact that GoPro brought this into the market to give us a choice -- i'll be buying a few of my friends one for Christmas.

Terrible company, thought it was best to buy direct from GoPro rather than Currys or john Lewis. What a mistake that was. I ordered the black Friday deal for the hero 8. Had an email saying it was delivered on the 4th and signed for by me. I wasn't there, no one was home none of my neighbours have signed for it. Taken over a week for them to look into it and there response was great news you received your package and included the same tracking details as I previously had. But not got it, not signed for it, and they don't seem much use in resolving the issue.
