The reason I ask what you will be using it for is to determine which set of features you need. If you're going to be using it for simpler activities, don't go all out for a Black edition with a 60fps, 1080p cam (all HERO3's are 1080p, anyways). The reason the Black Edition is so expensive is because of the crazy quality it has, and if you're using it for a more simple basis I wouldn't worry about the difference. The Silver or even White is perfectly fine for you. The main difference between these two is the white's camera has a 5 megapixels with 3fps burst while the silver is 11 megapixels with a 10 fps burst -- is that worth $100 to you?

Can I connect my GoPro to my Mac?


The Hero 7 Silver also has a lower-end 10-megapixel sensor. Its 4K footage doesn’t look as sharp to detailed as the Black models, and that’s down to the quality and size of the sensor, not just its resolution. You also miss out on RAW photo capture, the Black series’ super-effective HyperSmooth stabilisation (it does have electronic stabilisation, though) and 60fps 4K shooting.

I am so disappointed at GoPro, they have the worst customer care, with multiple frauds, including the 24hrs contact support for GoPro plus customers which is fake. Refund Frauds I experienced, they claim PayPal payment takes 30 days to refund, which PayPal has denied and said the refund should be instant. Inefficient administration costed me lots of time and money wasted on talking to them trying to resolve issues made by them. Delayed delivery. Untraceable order ID.

If you read the terms of the trade up programme it states that the money will be “held” in your account while they review your trade in. They hadn’t charged me for anything so on the 6th December I contacted them just to see when the money would leave my account and concerned about meeting the Christmas delivery dates. I was told that as the terms state the new product will ship within 14 days there is nothing that can be done until then. I thought that was fair enough as they had a clear SLA.

Once connected, however, any internet device can be seen by the on-line community, making it incumbent upon its manufacturer to design the device such that it can be properly secured for only intended use.Wifi enabled and Internet connected are two different things. Also the idea that 'any internet device can be seen by the on-line community' is like saying any car in a garage, could be driven by anyone with a license simply by virtue of it being a 'car'. Uhm, no. You need to get into the garage. People don't put their Ring devices on 'the internet'. They put them on their local networks, behind a router. Ring's problems are mainly that they don't force 2FA, allow more than one login to an account (HUGE issue) and allow continual failed logins without locking the account after a set number of attempts (Also HUGE issue, if not the WORST offense). But sadly the lawsuit barely mentions the latter two and instead focuses almost solely on the 2FA issue, which is where they are going to end up losing.Anyone can bring a suit up about ANYTHING and any lawyer will take it, because they usually don't do it on a pro bono basis so they get paid no matter what. But if you're going to sue Ring for negligence, at least hire a lawyer who knows what to sue them for. I'm not a fan of Ring, but these guys are barking up the wrong tree.
I ordered an item on their website and paid through Paypal. Ten days later no product. I contacted them and they have no record of the order, despite payment being taken and an invoice number being recorded on the payment. Now they are questioning if I really placed the order - despite receiving a copy of the paypal email confirmation and the invoice number. GoPro plus membership means nothing - except they take €5 from you each month. I am happy with the GoPro max I bought in Dixons - but the company and their customer support is dreadful.

Are GoPro adhesive mounts reusable?


GoPro's new HyperSmooth feature eliminates pretty much any doubt about the stabilization, and the new Boost mode might help future-proof GoPro's position here. If you really appreciate the front-facing "selfie" screen on the DJI, the Hero 8 doesn't have anything to offer here (until the screen mod comes out, but that'll cost extra). For me, the GoPro offers a much more "complete" experience, and the Hero 8's additional usability really seals the deal.

If you were hoping for some more practical updates, like improved battery life, then there's not really any news here. While the Hero 8 has an updated battery, it's still 1,220mAh as before. (The difference is that it offers a higher max output, which is needed for some of the new features.) The end result is still the same old "hour or so" of active use. If you're only shooting moments here or there, that's typically going to see you through a few hours of turning it on, off, tapping around and, of course, shooting.


One small thing I noticed is that sometimes the camera doesn't sit perfectly horizontal when you connect it to a pole or mount. It's easy enough to fix -- manually set it level again and tighten the screw a little more -- but it tripped me up a few times in the beginning. In short, add a mental note to check that right after you check your lens for drops of water or dirt before shooting. There is a new "horizon lock" mode in the app that will fix lopsided video, but it's always better to get the shot right the first time.
Terrible company, thought it was best to buy direct from GoPro rather than Currys or john Lewis. What a mistake that was. I ordered the black Friday deal for the hero 8. Had an email saying it was delivered on the 4th and signed for by me. I wasn't there, no one was home none of my neighbours have signed for it. Taken over a week for them to look into it and there response was great news you received your package and included the same tracking details as I previously had. But not got it, not signed for it, and they don't seem much use in resolving the issue.

I did that and was told I would get my refund within 7-21 days... It's now been OVER A MONTH and I havn't got my refund.

Sign up for a cloud-based service. All GoPro cameras are set up to transfer photo and video files to your computer or smartphone, but if you’re serious about backing up your content, consider subscribing to a cloud-based backup service. Cloud-based services, such as GoPro Plus, safely keep copies of your media files and allow you to access them from other devices as needed, which can be a lot more convenient than carrying all of your content around with you on your phone.
Image quality, while good for a small action camera, is another area where a camcorder or interchangeable lens camera will come out ahead. Mirrorless cameras and DSLRs use significantly larger imaging sensors, which capture more light and thus lead to superior image quality, particularly when you have to shoot in low light conditions. Terrible customer service. I ordered the Hero 8 twice as he first order was cancelled by them. They told me there was a problem with my billing address, so I fixed that issue. After that, I did another order. However, they cancelled the order again. So, I reached out to them again to see what the problem was this time. Turned out they couldn't answer me that either and they have no visibility in why it got cancelled. I figured that I wouldn't get the cam on time for my upcoming trip, which was already very disappointing and annoying. Worse than that was that they don't really seem to care if I am or am not able to order from their website. I mean what am I supposed to do differently in my orderings if they keep cancelling them and not even the company itself can tell why.
