We suppose it was easier for GoPro to simply remove options from the menus rather than recode the software to take away the menus entirely, but it does make the Hero’s interface feel a bit like a rush job. It’s also just confusing, and initially led us to believe there was something wrong with our review unit or that it needed a firmware update. Imagine being handed a menu at a restaurant with a single item on it, and then your waiter asking if you needed some time to make a decision.

Doing something for a living isn't always fun.. who knew. That's why that bullshit, do something you love and you'll never work a day is complete bullshit. If you are an artist and got a job drawing, you'll still hate it because you have to draw what you're told to or draw what sells. Not just what you want. I loved computers, I'd tinker on them day and night in college. And i got a job in tech, been doing it for a couple of decades and it's a job. I don't tinker on computers anymore, I don't even build my own rigs because I don't want to waste the time.
Terrible customer service. I ordered the Hero 8 twice as he first order was cancelled by them. They told me there was a problem with my billing address, so I fixed that issue. After that, I did another order. However, they cancelled the order again. So, I reached out to them again to see what the problem was this time. Turned out they couldn't answer me that either and they have no visibility in why it got cancelled. I figured that I wouldn't get the cam on time for my upcoming trip, which was already very disappointing and annoying. Worse than that was that they don't really seem to care if I am or am not able to order from their website. I mean what am I supposed to do differently in my orderings if they keep cancelling them and not even the company itself can tell why.
Which GoPro should I buy 2019?
The brand new Hero 4's are even more powerful, hence the hefty price of 5 bills with the HERO4 black. They come in either a Black or Silver Edition; however, there's also a new budget-friendly choice called the "HERO" which has some essential features to work with at around $130. I love the fact that GoPro brought this into the market to give us a choice -- i'll be buying a few of my friends one for Christmas.

QuikStories is GoPro’s answer to the question of what do you do with all of the footage, time-lapse sequences, and photos you took from your last adventure. To use the feature, you’ll first need to install the additional GoPro Quik app (find it on iOS or Android). Quik can see all of the videos and photos on your phone — whether they were shot on your GoPro or not — and will create an automatic edit that combines them into something easily consumable in your Facebook or Instagram feed. You can set some basics, like the mood and duration, and the app handles the rest.
Nearly as good as the GoPro Hero 7 Black in features and video quality, but it's just $220 with a waterproof dive housing included. Its electronic image stabilization isn't quite as good as GoPro's HyperSmooth, but it's definitely better than nothing. You also get shooting options like 4K video at 60 fps (with image stabilization at 30 fps), slow-motion video at 1080p at 120 fps or 720p at 240 fps, time-lapse photos and videos, live streaming and raw photo capture. You don't get anything more than the camera, a battery, the housing and charging and external mic cables, but if your main concern is getting good photos and video for less than a GoPro, this is a safe bet. Worst of all that is they have pre-authorization over the payments (means I don't have access to that money for the time). I urged them to get into it as I could use that money for the trip I have coming up (remember it was the money of two orderings). They told me then that they don't have a direct contact to their finance department and are not allowed to give me information about how to reach them. They just told me it should take like 2 days for them to deny the payment. It's been 4 days now and still nothing. No money back, no product, no reasons why all that happened and how to fix it. I mean why would a customer service not have contact to like any department within the company?! WORST purchasing experience I've ever had. Regarding customer-service they have to learn and improve like a LOT (should take Amazon, Zappos etc. as a role-model, as they're really concerned about customer experience and in solving your issue).
To be fair to GoPro I placed by order on Friday afternoon and everything arrived courtesy of UPS Thursday afternoon. If I wanted to be fussy the order wasn't shipped until Tuesday afternoon (from Holland) and the website said 2-3 day delivery time but it's in the busy Christmas period, we've had Black Friday and so everything must be running at full capacity. Either way I'm satisfied that the camera came within an acceptable time frame.
Much like Band-Aids or Kleenex, GoPro makes products so good that their brand name is synonymous with the product itself. GoPro’s portable video cameras set the standard for action cameras: they’re durable enough to withstand just about any outdoor activity, they’re easy enough for anyone to use, and they include features typically reserved for far pricier cameras.
Are Gopros waterproof?
You get many of the same shooting modes you'd find on a GoPro device, such as time-lapse photos and videos and slow motion footage at 1080p at 240 fps, and there's even a Drive mode so you can use it as a dash cam when plugged into your car, automatically turning on when you start your car and off when you stop it. It's not waterproof on its own, but a dive housing is included as well as several mounts, two batteries and a charger that simultaneously powers up both packs. It also has built-in Wi-Fi so you can connect to a smartphone and use an app to control the camera and transfer your shots for sharing.
Inexpensive: Between $200 and $300, you’ll find GoPro cameras that are perfect for most people. There are great 1080p models and some decent 4K models in this price range, and if you’re willing to look at last-generation models, you’ll find a lot to like here. If you absolutely need bleeding-edge features like spherical capture or live streaming, you’ll need to look at more expensive models, but if you just want an action camera that can take gorgeous video and go just about anywhere, you don’t need to spend more than $300.
14 days later I still hadn’t heard anything, still no money taken from my account and still no news on my camera. I contacted support again who said I should have contacted them BEFORE the 14 days were up so they could follow up on my order. I asked them to check their records as that is exactly what I did, on 6th December. For this mishap they shipped me a free handler (which by some miracle arrived 2 days later). Still no news on the camera but I was assured an escalation was placed on my case so I trusted the process.
